1948

**Beautiful 1948 Martin 000-28 Acoustic Guitar in Excellent Condition with Original Case** SCROLL DOWN FOR HIGH-RES PHOTOS NOTE: PLEASE BE PATIENT WHILE THE HIGH-RES PHOTOS LOAD. THANK YOU. An absolutely gorgeous 1948 000-28 for sale possessing that amazing and exceptional 1940’s sound which only a Martin can achieve. The serial number to this beauty with Brazilian back and sides is 107XXX. I recently purchase this extremely special instrument. However I didn't discuss the purchase first with my wife and now she has been anything but happy with me…as I had recently bought a slightly less expensive guitar just 4 months ago. I truly hate to have to let the guitar go, but I have no choice but to sell it to keep the peace. This guitar is a vintage Martin 000-28 just 3-years shy from being a wartime piece with a book value of approximately $12,000. The legendary Martin Craftsmen who made these wartime guitars were undoubtedly still the same men who made this one since it was only a few years later. Any Martin from the 40's is a true treasure but this guitar, being a 000-28 Brazilian and in the condition that this one is…makes it a rare find. The guitar had been in the very same family for over 50 years prior to me purchasing it and it had been left in its case, unused for over 40 years according to the first owners….it certainly looks it. This 62-year old Martin has the projection, volume, tone and even fullness that players and collectors alike crave. You can only get that sound from first growth, mature tone woods of yesteryear which are no longer available today, or for that matter for the past 40 years. The son of the original owner said that at an earlier point in this guitar's life, it had a professional neck reset so no further work is needed. The neck is straight and the action is easy with plenty of saddle to lower if required. The original saddle will be included in the case as well. The pickguard, tuning machines, bridge, bridgeplate, fingerboard and frets are all original except for the bridge pins. The top is flat with no bellying by the bridge. There is a finish scratch on the back which is a couple of inches long but does not go through. There is a very small ding repair on the back near the rim about 1/4 of an inch. The inside of the guitar looks pristine. There is some finish touch-up around the sound hole and around the pickguard but it was done conservatively and expertly and does not detract from the patina and beauty of the original finish of this amazing time capsule. The binding is a beautiful cream/yellow and is perfect in every way. The guitar was treated with love it’s entire life and even comes with the OHSC Original Martin Geib Case. The case itself is an almost perfect beauty and alone worth some serious money. The case even has the original, working key for the lock. Even the original handle is hardly worn and the hinges all are working and in excellent condition. As I said, my wife won't let up about me buying this guitar until I sell it. There are no returns on the guitar so please ask questions before bidding. I went out of my way to take excellent large accurate and clear photos for your viewing and examination. Please don't bid unless you’re a serious bidder with intentions to buy. The winner pays shipping and insurance via UPS. I will only ship to the contiguous US. Thank you and good luck! 000-18 000-21 d-18 d-21 d-28 00028
