2001Gibson Custom, Art & Historic 1960 Les Paul Reissue For all of you who have followed the evolution of the legendary Les Paul and for those of you who have searched for the Holy Grail... Put down your sword and pick up your axe! In the early 80's, Gibson saw the demand for Vintage Les Paul's rising and responded with the first reissues known as the pre-Historics. However, it was not until 1993 that the Historic Collection was introduced. Models included the '54 Black Beauty, '56 Goldtop, '57 Custom Black Beauty, '57 Goldtop, '59 Flametop and the 1960 Flametop Reissue. The 1960 Reissues are the rarest of the Historic series Les Paul's. Identical to the 1959 Reissue except the 1960 Reissue has the slim tapered fast action neck. In 1997 Gibson upgraded to a AAAAA Eastern Maple Top. This kind of wood extremely rare and highly sought after as the perfect tone wood. In 2000 the Lemon Burst was introduced. Gibson officially discontinued this model in 2000, but built and shipped a few near the end of 2001. R9 production was limited to 500 units in the US, 1000 worldwide due to "parts constraints". The 1960 Reissue was built in far fewer numbers. In 2001 a limited number of guitars also had Brazilian Rosewood fretboards. This 2001 Gibson Historic collection 1960 Les Paul Reissue is one of the very few that were built in late 2001. It is extremely rare and beautiful. A vintage set of early 1960's Fender Stratocaster knobs. Volume, tone, tone. 3-spoke. They all have the right amount of yellowing and scum so they'll be right at home on your vintage strat. The numbers are smaller, which dates them to the early 1960's rather than the late 60's or 70's. The lettering is gold, but has turned greenish, especially the volume knob. I just tested them in some split shaft pots and they seem a little loose/stripped, so you'll have to pry apart the shaft forks a little and they should work fine. I'm not sure what exact year these knobs came off of. I wish I had the whole guitar! They are most certainly early 60's Fender Stratocaster knobs. Buyer pays $4.00 shipping. -Fred.

Very nice Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul R9 VOS. This guitar is in very good shape with some dings and a little belt buckle rash on the back (see pic). Plays great! All original except for the pickups and wiring harness which are from RS guitar works ( the pickups are special wound humbuckers from Lindy Fralin) Here is the info on the pickups - These RS/PAFs are made for RS by Lindy Fralin, and are exact copies of the real 1960 PAFs found in Roy’s main Les Paul®. There tone is very smooth with a great single coil sting for that P-90 cut through. They do a great job of getting that old Dickey Betts and early Jimmy Page tone. The neck pickup reads 7.4K and the bridge is 8.1K both have unbalanced coils and are unpotted with Alnico IV magnets.
