Fender 1963 Vibroverb Brownface Reissue Picture(s) and Description:

Here is a used Fender Vibroverb 1963 Brownface reissue amplifier. This amplifier is in used condition but works perfectly and sounds amazing. This is one of the rare early 90's brownface reissues of the Fender Vibroverb. Every effort was made by Fender to copy the original design and sound of the Vibroverb. Included is the vibrato footswitch. This particular amplifier has tears in the grillcloth on the front, as seen in the photos. Replacement grillcloths in this style and color can easily be purchased for very little on ebay. Needs replacement on/off indicator lightbulb. A little history on this amplifier: As demand for vintage Fender tube amplifiers had increased, several re-issue models were introduced in 1990, beginning with the tweed ’59 Bassman amplifier, the brownface ’63 Reverb unit and the brownface ’63 Vibroverb. Fender made great efforts to reproduce the tone and look of the original unit. A “direct-coupled” oscillator circuit was used for generating the vibrato (albeit with different components). The noticeably “warmer” reverb sound of a vintage brownface Vibroverb (due to the original reverb send and recovery circuit unique to the Vibroverb) was also present. The cosmetics incorporated the brown “Tolex” and wheat-colored “Ecru” grill cloth used in 1963, as well as the “flat” Fender logo plate found only on the brownface amps. Although cosmetically and—more importantly—tonally accurate, there were several notable differences to be found (solid-state rectifier, printed circuit boards, ¼” reverb/vibrato footswitch jack, 3-prong power cord) between the original and the re-issue, mostly due to reliability or safety concerns Fender used the original templates, molds and blueprints from the Oxford company archives to manufacture exact Oxford-style loudspeakers. The Fender ’63 Reissue Vibroverb was released in 1990. Overall, reaction was favorable and the amplifier has since become very collectable, with an enthusiastic following. Notable users of the ’63 Re-issue Vibroverb include Richard Thompson, Jeff Buckley and Liam Hayes!
