Gibson Les Paul Heritage 80 Cherry Sunburst FLAMETOP Picture(s) and Description:

1980 Gibson Les Paul Heritage 80 Standard - Book matched cherry sunburst flametop. 9 out of 10 condition! A very beautiful and fantastic sounding guitar! The flame top looks like an original 59 top - not a modern day clown top, because Gibson used hard-rock maple on this guitar, instead of modern day's big leaf maple. I've seen Gibson limited edition hard rock tops and they go for $6000 - $10000 dollars. This guitar is 30 years old and it is a true vintage. It has a strong, yet well defined sound that you can only get from wire being wrapped around magnets for 30 years. From 1980 through 1982, Gibson made around 3000 Heritage guitars. This is number 0061. A very low serial number, and the early pickups may have been hand wound by Tim Shaw. This is a great looking, great sounding, and great playing guitar - perfect for recording. Specs: Top: Cherry Sunburst Bookmatched Flametop, with a nice vertical grain running through the flames. Hard rock maple. Serial#: 81720679 Series#: 0061 Stamped: "Made in USA" Rosewood Fingerboard Neck Profile: relatively slender profile which feels good in the hand and is good for playing fast. 2 double creme pickups stamped "May 28, 1980" Case: period correct Gibson Protector case. I really like these cases because they genuinely protect your guitar. Body: A very nice piece of mahogany, painted in deep cherry, lightly faded over time. History: The original owner was a bluegrass player so he installed a strap button on the back of the guitar. I had this professionally filled in. Shown in the pictures. The original owner didn't like the original frets (medium high, medium wide) so he had high and wide jumbos installed. And then the guitar sat in its case for the next 24 years. I had a pro-setup and lowered the fret profile to create medium high jumbos. They are great, feel really good, with plenty of snap and a full lifetime left. The original owner had heavy strings on the guitar and the original bridge begin to sag. During the pro-setup, I had it replaced with a correct Gibson replacement bridge. It's nice. All other hardware & plastic is original. I don't think anybody monkied around in the control cavitity - it is VERY CLEAN. I've owned this guitar for the last 6 years and have truly enjoyed it, played it gently, used it primarily for recording. I protected it with a pair of strap locks. I'll include the strap lock button tops and the original strap buttons in the auction. Condition: 9 out of 10. A few light pick scratches on the top. A few light scratches on the back. NO WORMING. One nick through the finish along the bottom edge, close to the jack. Shown in the pictures. A beautiful shiny finish. The binding and plastic has taken on a great creme-color look. You can pay a luthier a lot of money to age a guitar, OR you can buy this guitar and get the real thing. The neck of guitar has almost no wear at all. NO BREAKS, NO ISSUES. Thin binding in the cutaway - correct for a re-issue guitar and you can even see the bottom of the cap below the binding here. Shown in pictures. Payment: Paypal is preferred. Please provide payment within 72 hours of auction close, otherwise the guitar will be re-listed and the opportunity to own this great guitar will be lost. Shipping: FREE FEDEX GROUND. I ship within 72 hours of receiving payment. Returns: Will be excepted for 72 hours after receipt of guitar.
