HOFNER 500/3 BASS from early 60s RESTORATION PROJECT Picture(s) and Description:

kayjayess store Thanks to a non-paying winning bidder who didn’t even have the courtesy to contact me, here is my second listing of this vintage item … RESTORATION PROJECT Genuine early 1960s Hofner 500/3 Bass Made in Germany Trying to have a bit of a sort out when I came across my brother's lovely old 1962 vintage Hofner 500/3 bass which one of you might want to restore to former glories or perhaps just hang on your studio wall. I thought these basses were also known as the Hofner "Senator" but it looks to be virtually identical (other than the pickup) to the Hofner "President" Bass John Lennon persuaded Stuart Sutcliffe to buy in order to play with The Beatles! You'll see from the pics that the neck has come away from the body at some point as it's been glued back in place with Araldite by the looks of it, for an effective but rather untidy repair. There is also a nasty split in the part of the neck that joins the body by the front strap screw that will need a repair. The original machine heads have been replaced with Schaller's and one of the screws that stops them twisting has sheared off. The pickup and electrics are all absent but you can still obtain all such replacement items for vintage Hofner guitars and basses from sources such as projectguitarparts.co.uk or musikkeller.com in Germany amongst others if you cant source them off eBay. A rare vintage Hofner bass like this in good condition is probably worth a four figure sum these days. No idea if this one's worth anything to anyone so I'm putting it on with a 99p start and no reserve. The buyer is more than welcome to collect or I will post within the UK by Royal Mail Standard Parcels for an additional £20 which also covers insurance. Please be assured I will pack carefully with plenty of bubble wrap to ensure the guitar is not damaged any more than it already is before it gets to you. I'm happy to ship outside the UK but please note I may have to arrange for a courier to collect from my home to get a reasonable rate as taking the package to a Post Office and sending by Royal Mail/Parcelforce Worldwide appears to be rather expensive for you. As I'll have to arrange to take a day off from work to be in for the courier it could be two or three weeks before I can despatch. If you're happy to wait that sort of time then please contact me for a quote. Please contact me if you have any questions. You can email via ebay or give me a ring on 07810 395885. Thanks for looking.
